Oil production enhancement, asphaltene precipitation and permeability damage during CO2-SAG flooding of multi-layer sandstone reservoirs

چکیده

The process of CO2-SAG flooding involves conventional miscible CO2 until breakthrough (BT), followed by a period soaking or shut-in, and then continuation the flooding. SAG provides different improvements in oil recovery for positions each layer multilayer reservoirs, has effects on distribution pore throat blocking adsorption asphaltene to mineral surfaces. In this paper, both experiments have been carried out at reservoir conditions multi-layer systems composed 3 long cores with increasing porosities permeabilities, which were connected parallel. After factors (RF) low, medium high permeability 7.7%, 8.3%, 7.6% higher compared RFs after flooding, respectively. respective fractional production (FOP) core was 10.6%, 27.7%, 61.6% less difference between than injection end dropped 24.5–25.8%, is 5.5–14.3% value outlet. decrease due 0.7–9.7% that decline more homogeneous. contribution total attributable particle blockage 84.7–62.7%, 5.2–10.1% gradually decreasing along flow direction. Complex two-phase gas likely cause instead causing precipitation.

A new investigation on modeling of permeability reduction during CO2 flooding processes in sandstone oil reservoirs

Permeability reduction in oil reservoirs during primary oil recovery and using the enhanced oil recovery methods are complicated problem which most of the oil field in worlds has encountered. In this work, a modified model based on four phase black oil model (oil, water, gas, and asphaltene) was developed to account permeability reduction during CO2 flooding in cylindrical coordinates around a ...

RESEARCH ON CO2 FLOODING FOR IMPROVED OIL RECOVERY IN WATER FLOODING ABANDONED RESERVOIRS

CO2 injection is an effective technique for improved oil recovery in light oil reservoirs, especially for water flooding abandoned reservoirs. In this study, the lower part of Es1 reservoirs in Pucheng oilfield was introduced as the target reservoir. By studying the minimum miscible pressure in CO2 flooding, the reservoir could achieve miscible flooding. Long core displacement experiments prove...

An Experimental Study of CO2-low Salinity Water Alternating Gas Injection in Sandstone Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Several studies have shown that oil recovery significantly increased by low salinity water flooding (LSWF) in sandstones. However, mechanism of oil recovery improvement is still controversial. CO2 that develops buffer in presence of water is expected as a deterrent factor in LSWF efficiency based on mechanism of IFT reduction due to pH uprising. No bright evidence in literature suppo...

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs — CO2 injection into tertiary oil reservoirs has been widely accepted as an effective technique for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and has been used by the oil industry for over 40 years. Concerns over greenhouse gas emissions are leading to the investigation and realisation of its potential as a carbon storage method in recent years. With the right reservoir...
